The Painter.

Dominique Lambrecht was born in 1958 in Brussels , where she spent her early years and later studied fine art and literature.

She has spent most of her professional life in the airline industry, 20 years or so, until in 2002, she decided to concentrate exclusively on her two passions, which are painting and writing.

Her insatiable quest of inspiration has recently lead her, after a 7 years stay in The Caribbean, and a further 15 years stay in Essex, UK, to move to her chosen Land’ s End, Finistere, Brittany, where she now lives happily with her English husband.

She has successively exhibited where the wind pushed her boat, Belgium, England and France, sometimes in unexpected or very unusual locations, including banks but also markets..., much preferring taking passing by punters by surprise than participating to often insipid and sterile arranged events.

She strongly claims that art, being a form of life, needs, in order to remain vibrant, to rub shoulders with the ordinary people in the street .

In 2007, her love of everything sea- related has tested her strong swimming ability to the limit, as she decided to undertake the extraordinary challenge to swim The Channel, for charity purposes as well as as a personal challenge.

Having accomplished half the distance, she can live with it, however is not ruling out another long distance swimming endeavour, probably closer to home, Brittany.
